Drugstore Diamonds

Fall is around the corner which means the kids are off or staying home for school/child care, some of us are taking on new work routines, and we are all re-budgeting for our health and well-being. Perhaps, our beauty routines have changed too? With the "new normal", and as requested by a mom-to-be, I rallied some quality "drugstore diamonds" discovered in Spring to share with you all. These products are priced under $15 and easily found, so long as you have a Shoppers Drug Mart or Walmart in your Canadian community.

NIVEA 48H Nourishing Body Milk

This body milk with almond oil is excellent for those who have dry to very dry skin or appreciate long-term moisturization for itchiness or tightness. Our daily hand-washing and sanitizing can cause dry, irritated skin, and this formula hydrates. It also gives your skin a healthy glow, which is nice. You only need a little to get the benefits, and a travel-sized bottle (75 mL) is now available while you’re on-the-go. A 625 mL pump bottle is $11.49 and can replenish the travel-sized bottle once it’s finished. Walmart has the better deal with the same size bottle now on sale for $8.98, and a 1 L bottle for $12.97.

L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Superstar X Fiber Waterproof Mascara

I don’t think we will be worrying about the symmetry of our lip liner this season, since masks are on, and eyes are the focus. This mascara is great for those who enjoy length and waterproof formulas. The mascara comes with two separate wiper systems, one giving volume, and the curved wand offering length and curl. It adds non-overbearing volume with fibers even for low eyelid crease or sparse eyelashes. It is a great drug store find if your pricier brand name favourites are unavailable. You can pick up this mascara for $16.49 at Shoppers (it's under $15 when on sale - you could pick up two at a time that could last months), or $12.96 every day at Walmart.

L’Oréal Paris True Match Super Blendable Concealer

Concealing will still be useful to help us appear rested during these changing times. This concealer is a “drugstore diamond” because of its natural, sheer to medium coverage that helps with correction. It has a semi-matte finish and works well with foundation and powders. The light formula and warm shades are excellent for the under-eye area. I find the only things missing are a few more deeper shade options to expand the spectrum. Lastly, it is oil-free, which is a bonus for our skin. True Match Super Blendable Concealer is $12.99 at Shoppers and $10.97 at Walmart.

Neutrogena Pore Refining Daily Scrub

Smooth, healthy skin is always in, and this scrub is a great option with an alpha and beta formula to help remove pore-clogging impurities and rough, uneven patches. It has a creamy lathering consistency with tiny exfoliators to do the work without taking away skin moisture. It’s also an excellent makeup remover for those who are daily eye makeup wearers. This scrub is currently on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart for $7.99. Walmart has it for an everyday price of $10.97.

If, for any reason you do not have either of these stores around you, Shoppers and Walmart offer ship-to-home and in some cases, store pick-up options. Here is the shipping information for Walmart and Shoppers.
